Photography Green Screen

Many News shows and TV shows use a Photography Green Screen while filming their shows. It is most often used by TV Weathermen. They appear to be standing in front of different weather maps but in reality they are standing in front of a Green Screen Background. If there are people sitting in the audience they would only see a solid green screen behind him as he does the weather.

The first background screen developed was actually blue but as it was tweaked it became available as a green screen background as well. Today the Green Screen Background is actually used more than any of the other colors because the sensors inside the filming cameras are more sensitive to the color green. The green background screen also needs less light than the other colors. The blue screen needs much more light than the green one.

One thing to remember when working with a green background screen is to never wear a matching color. If you do your clothes will be replaced with part of the map that you are standing in front of. The camera knows to replace anything with the green color with the object on the film. The blue screen sometimes matched the weatherman's eyes and that was a problem. Switching to bright green made it easier as not many people have bright green eyes unless they are wearing special contact lenses.

One of today's funniest television shows, Who's Line is it Anyway?, utilizes green background screens in some of their episodes. They have one of their actors stand in front of a huge green background screen and makes believe he is a reporter. Then they start showing a video. The other actors can only give him clues by asking questions. The actor in front of the green background screen must try to guess what type of situation he is reporting on which leads to some very funny episodes of the show.
